The House Boat / Athens, NY Amazingly, this 1920's house boat originally navigated the Hudson and Athens channels on the river's west bank. Locals recount stories of shad being fished off of the boat and sold in the Athens village market. Town historians say it is perhaps the last of its kind in the Hudson river area. Incredibly cute, light-filled, newly and tastefully renovated, this petite 3-room bungalow was recently fitted with a large, new deck and native, blue stone patio. It faces the Hudson river, has river views and its own private, fenced and landscaped yard. Amenities include a washer and dryer. Cable TV and satellite are also available. Situated in the Village of Athens, the House Boat is within walking distance of the Athens post office, parks, stores and restaurants. Ice boating is still practiced on the river as is sailing, kayaking, skiing and fly fishing at Catskill. Just across the river is the village of Hudson, famous as an antiquer's paradise. Farmer's Markets abound in the area known for it's peaceful rural atmosphere. Athens is 10 minutes from Hudson, NY and Frederick Church’s Olana. It is about 25 miles from Bard College, 2 ˝ hours from NYC, 10 minutes from Catskill, NY and close to several skiing areas.
The House Boat is
available for both short and long term rentals.
